Inspired by visit to actual mine site at Big South Fork National Recreation Area Historical Park. Scenery was scratch built from Styrofoam, plaster of paris, and fall dried Sedum flowers. The buildings include New River Mining Co (Walters Cornerstone) modified to depict the Stearns Blue Heron Coal mine. Shop and Bathhouse were scratch based on Natrional Park Ghost structure dimensions. The coal tram and electric low profile motor were scratch built using my photos of actual equipment at the park.

The scenery on the 2 club corners was inspired by the lush countryside and rock outcroppings visible around Middle Tennessee. Rock outcropping were scratch built from mulch bark and the trees from dried fall Sedum flowers. The coloring of rock outcroppings is typical of photos that were taken along rural roads near Columbia Tennessee.

Ed Minnich's Modules
Sky's The Limit
Triple - 14" d
Ed Minnich - Franklin, TN
Sky is the heaviest of my modules as the three "skyscrapers" are Lunde cast resin kits. The retail building in the block on the right is a DPM kit that I hand painted. Done right, the DPM kits can be the "showiest" of structures. The gas station is from Model Power.
Let It Snow
Double - 14" d
Ed Minnich - Franklin, TN
Let It Snow was built for the Dickens of a Christmas exhibit. This is a unique module as it is constructed of two 11 x 14 artists canvasses and foamboard insulation. The canvas depth met T-Trak standards; however, foamboard is sandwiched in between the canvasses and on either end to obtain the proper width. This module has been utilized on several occasions and seems to be holding up well. This is clearly the least expensive module base I've constructed. The lights on the trees on the left "dance" to the music provided by a mini-MP3 player. The trees on the right are also lighted. The trees and lights are inexpensive Christmas items purchased locally. There is also a bonfire at the top of the hill to keep the sledders warm.
TNT-Trak Power & Light
Triple - 14" d
Tennessee T-Trak Associates -- Franklin, TN
This is one of five "anchor" modules owned by TNT-Trak and decorated by members. All the anchor module bases were built by the late Charlie Vlk, one of our founders. The module was decorated by Ed Minnich and is our COMMAND MODULE. The building on the left houses a Digitrax transceiver for communicating with Digitrax wireless throttles. The building on the right houses a WiFi router that will accommodate 4 devices. The module also features a siding that functions as a programming track. The module interfaces directly with the Digital Command Control System, which is normally under the table, and must be installed in every display.
Ghostly Manor
Single - 14" d
Ed Minnich - Franklin, TN
Ghostly was my first module. I had previously set up the Halloween House in a little diorama, but it has been tucked away in a box form many years. The module features "ghostly sounds" and "strobe lights" in the trees activated by passing trains. Sound and animation are controlled by an Arduino NANO and mini-MP3 player.
4121 Cromwell
Double - 14" d
Ed Minnich - Franklin, TN
Another completed building kit stored away in a box for years. This is a model of the Kalmbach Memorial Library in Chattanooga, TN. The library was relocated to the California RR Museum in Sacramento a couple of years ago. The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum purchased the building as it is adjacent to the museum. The street on the left leads into the museum proper. The track beside the street is part of the wye that the museum uses to turn its excursion train. The diorama features an arc welder in the industrial building located to the right of the library building.
